About ME

I am Tobias Trumpp – an interior and architecture photographer based in Berlin, Germany. I work with architects, hospitality businesses, and editorial clients across Europe and beyond.
Before I became a photographer, I spent more than a decade as a packaging engineer and designer – working for Unilever on global brands like Dove, Axe, and Vaseline across Europe, North America, and Asia. My work was a mix of engineering, design, and consumer research. The question that drove everything: What makes people believe in something before they experience it?

That question never left me. It just found a new home.

A Different Starting Point

I studied packaging engineering and design – a discipline that sits at the intersection of structure, aesthetics, and human perception. Most architectural photographers come from architecture or fine art. I come from understanding how people perceive things – how a product, a package, or a space signals quality and trust before anyone has even touched it.

Today, I apply that same thinking to every shoot. I don’t just photograph lines and materials – I look for the specific mood of a place and the emotional resonance it carries. How a space feels before you’ve set foot in it. That’s what I’m after.

From Obsession to Profession

I bought my first camera in 2008 while living in Connecticut. Weekends in Manhattan, road trips through New England, a day added to every business trip just to explore somewhere new. What started as a habit became an obsession – and in 2017, my full-time profession. I have not looked back since.

I believe the best results come from a close partnership and active dialogue. My clients value a rare combination: the technical expertise and structured thinking of an engineer, paired with a sharp artistic eye.
